The 31st vintage of Hamilton Russell Vineyards Pinot noir – the 2011 – has now been released
– Alc. 13.2%
– Acid 6.4 g/l
– pH 3.48
2011 is a beautiful, finely-tuned wine with great elegance. It shows tremendous purity and clarity of fruit with excellent balance. It is lower in alcohol than the celebrated 2010 (95 points from Parker) and the fruit profile is more towards red forest fruits than the darker fruits of the 2010. The wine displays the characteristic Hamilton Russell Vineyards savoury hints and minerality, with the fine-grained tannin structure which results from our iron and clay-rich soils.
Sadly yields were at a record low 14 hectoliters per hectare! We made less than half as much 2011 as we did 2010. Our 2012 has been bottled however and although the 2011 will sell out in way less than a calendar year, the 2012 will be ready to replace it.
